Complete guide to designing, publishing, and sharing digital restaurant menus.

Section 1

Overview

Menu Card lets restaurant teams build beautiful digital menus with custom branding, layout themes, and shareable public links plus QR codes. Each menu lives in your workspace with role-based access.

Section 2

Getting started

  1. Sign in

    Open Menu Card and sign in with your platform account.

  2. Create a menu card

    Click New menu card, enter a restaurant name, and save.

  3. Design the theme

    Pick a layout theme, set colors, upload cover media, and save the theme.

  4. Add items and publish

    Add menu items, then publish to get a public link and QR code.

Section 4

Editor — Theme

The Theme tab is the first step. Save the theme to unlock Items and Publish tabs.

Layout themes

  • Classic, Bistro, Gallery, Compact, Category tabs, Vertical
  • Live preview panel shows how the public menu will look

Branding

  • Restaurant name and optional menu subtitle (any language)
  • Primary, secondary, and accent colors
  • Cover image or video (upload or URL)
  • Social links: WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, website

Section 5

Editor — Items

  • Add items with name, category, price, tags, description, image, and video
  • Search, filter by category/tags, sort, table or grouped views
  • Import wizard: paste Excel/CSV, map columns, preview (max 500 rows)
  • Export wizard: download all or filtered items as CSV

Requires menu_cards.edit for changes. Import and export are available from the Items tab toolbar.

Section 6

Editor — Publish

  • Toggle published status — saves automatically
  • Public URL at /m/{slug} — copy link or open in new tab
  • QR code — download PNG or branded PDF for print
  • Unpublished menus return 404 on the public page

Section 7

Public menu pages

Published menus are available without sign-in at your Menu Card URL plus /m/{slug}.

  • Renders the chosen layout theme with branding and items
  • Mobile-friendly responsive layouts
  • No login required for customers scanning QR codes

Section 8

Roles & members

  • Create custom roles with menu card and activity permissions
  • Assign roles to workspace members
  • System roles cannot be renamed; new users get Guest by default

Section 9

Profile & activity

  • Profile menu: workspace, role, usage quotas, refresh usage
  • Workspace activity (activity.view) or My activity
  • Logged actions: menu card and item CRUD, imports, role/member changes

Languages & themes

  • App UI in English or Hindi
  • Menu text fields accept any language
  • Workspace brand colors and light/dark/system appearance

Troubleshooting

Save the theme first on the Theme tab.

Ensure the menu is published and you are using the correct slug URL.

Item name is required. Check column mapping and the 500-row limit.

Your role needs menu_cards.create permission.
